Expert Condemns Streaming Of Buratai’s Son Wedding On Army Official FB Page
Security experts have commented on the live streaming of Burutai’s son on the Facebook account of the National Army, according to HumAngle.
The wedding of Hamisu Tukur, son of Nigerian Army Chief Tukur Buratai, was announced by the Nigerian Army at a large mosque in the Maitama area of the Nigerian capital, Abuja.
It is not clear why the Nigerian Army chose to broadcast the personal affair of the military chief and his family on its official account when it should have been focused on the fight against terrorism in various parts of the country.
“The army’s official social media accounts are meant for official dissemination of information, so that means any official function by the army or any information that it wants to send out to the public,” said security expert Kabiru Adamu.
“It sounds inappropriate, I will probably urge the army headquarters to issue a clarification why they will do something like that,” Adamu said.
He added, “There are so many things the social media accounts should churn out on counterinsurgency strategy and the army’s numerous operations across Nigeria.”
Confidence Isaiah-MacHarry, a security analyst at SBM Intelligence said: “Without sugarcoating it, this follows a clear precedent set by the president, with the use of the presidential jet by his daughter for a personal assignment“.
