BREAKING: Nigerians Kick… #FreeDawisu Trends On Social Media

This is not best best of times for Ganduje as #FreeDawisu now trends on social media following the sack of his media aide and subsequent arrest by the DSS.

CityNews Nigeria recalls that Ganduje had on Saturday morning sacked his media aide,Salihu Tanko Yakassai for allegdely criticising President Buhari.

According to feelers we’re getting, a number of top social media influencers in the North and some from the South are now clamoring for the unconditional release of Salisu saying Nigeria is a free state and its under a democratic rule.

CityNews recalls that Salihu had called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to either deal with bandits in the country or resign.

Tanko-Yakasai spoke on Friday while reacting to students’ abduction at Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Prominent media organizations have also reported the arrest of Yakassai by DSS operatives and this has been confirmed by his father, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai.

With over 40,000 tweets, Nigerians took to social media to trend #FreeDawisu calling for his release.

“We condemn the unlawful arrest of journalist Salihu Tanko Yakasai simply for peacefully exercising his right to freedom of expression. Nigerian authorities should stop shutting up critics. Authorities must immediately and unconditionally release Mr Yakasai,” SERAP tweeted.

The presidential candidate of African Action Congress in the 2019 general elections Omoyele Sowore, said, “#FreeDawisu Lawless DSS has arrested @dawisu for freely expressing his views regarding the failure of the @MBuhari’s govt. The DSS lazy leadership can’t help Nigerians facing insecurity but only ready and happy to pounce on Nigerians critical of the failing regime #BuhariMustGo”

Sources say the #FreeDawisu campaign will cut across Nigeria in a couple of hours.
