They also reminded the President of the legal authority to impeach the President as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.

The senators intend to take drastic measures, including the suspension of the 2021 budget, which will force the president to implement their resolution seriously.

The senators were speaking during a debate on a resolution tabled by Senator Bello Mandiya, representing Katsina South, on the abduction of 350 secondary school children, which Boko Haram claimed responsibility for.

Senators added that they do not see the benefits of current security chiefs, they need change.
