CityNews Nigeria reports that Luis Suarez could reportedly make a sensational return to Liverpool FC if Mohamed Salah leaves Anfield this summer.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants to sign an experienced goalscorer, considering Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have both struggled to recreate their best form, Spanish media outlet Fichajes.net reported.

Salah, who has been Liverpool’s best since his arrival in 2017, has been linked with top European clubs such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). In the ongoing season, Salah is the joint-leading goalscorer in the Premier League along with Tottenham’s Harry Kane (17 goals). Across all competitions, Salah has netted 25 goals for Liverpool ahead of Mane and Diogo Jota, who have scored 12 and 10 goals respectively.

Jota’s addition to the squad has worked well for Liverpool but Klopp’s original front-three, who played a major role in Liverpool’s success over the last two years, have failed to score in eight out of their side’s last 14 league games.

Meanwhile, Suarez, 34, who moved from Barcelona to Atletico Madrid last summer, has not lost his touch as yet. With 19 goals, in all competitions, Suarez is the leading goal scorer for Atletico this season ahead of young Portuguese João Félix (10 goals). All of Suarez’s goals have come in the La Liga and have powered Atletico to the top of the table. Atletico Madrid are four points clear of second-placed Barcelona and six points ahead of defending champions Real Madrid.

After Barcelona failed to win a single trophy last season, the club underwent a lot of changes, including the arrival of new boss Ronald Koeman. Suarez, who had spent six years at Camp Nou, was told by the new head coach that he was no longer a part of the club’s future. After Suarez’s move to Juventus fell apart at the last minute, he was roped in by Barcelona’s league rivals Atletico for a minimal fee.

Barcelona’s decision to let Suarez leave has turned out to be a big mistake as the former Liverpool forward is firing the Wanda Metropolitano side to their first La Liga trophy since 2014.

That was the same year when Suarez almost single-handedly led Liverpool to their maiden Premier League title. Suarez finished as the leading goal scorer in the 2013-14 league, scoring 31 goals, 10 more than second-placed Daniel Sturridge, his Reds teammate. But the Anfield side missed the title by a whisker as they finished two points behind then-champions Manchester City.

Suarez, who joined Liverpool from Ajax during the 2011 January window, ended his spell with the Anfield side with 82 goals in 133 competitive matches. Ahead of the 2014-15 campaign, Suarez made a $97 million move to Barcelona.
