On the joyous occasion of this year’s Eid-El-Kabir celebration, I felicitate with everyone, particularly the Muslim faithfuls, on the celebration of this year’s Eid-El-Kabir. I congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters despite your inability to participate in the rites of this year’s Hajj because of the Covid-19 pandemic, you have remained thankful for the gift of life bestowed upon all of us. I appeal to everyone to rise against the odds, keep our prejudices aside and strengthen the bonds of friendship and unity to keep our country together.

I also use this opportunity to commiserate with everyone that has lost loved ones during this trying period and thank all Nigerians who are praying for our country’s unity and prosperity in the face of our current health, economic and security challenges. We also appreciate God for sparing our lives and giving us good health to be part of this year’s celebration. The entire world is going through a lot of challenges and each of us must play our role to overcome these challenges.

I want to remind us that no nation becomes great if the people are not united and patriotic to help the development of such country, virtually all the great nations in the world today build their greatness through patriotism, unity and sense of purpose of their people. Nigeria cannot in any way be isolated from these essential nation-building factors. They are needed at this crucial moment to stabilize the country and make Nigeria great again.

As we celebrate, I sincerely believe that our nation can make rapid progress on all fronts if we can replicate the exemplary virtues, typified by Prophet Ibrahim, through his sacrifice, patience, steadfastness, generosity and obedience to Allah’s command.

The song in Nigeria today should be how the country would survive economically, socially, and politically, while the spirit of this year’s Sallah teaches all of us to be resilient, thankful, patriotic and be prepared to serve the country and nurture it back to greatness.

May the spiritual goodness of this season enrich your souls with strong resistance to any evil and keep you and your loved ones safe, healthy and in the path of righteousness.
