Nwaoboshi Reacts To His Suspension By PDP
The Senator representing Delta North in the National Assembly, Peter Nwaoboshi has rubbished the news of his suspension by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his state.
Reacting to the news of his suspension, Nwaoboshi described the development as a laughing matter, adding that he has not received any official communication to that effect.
CityNews Nigeria recalls the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State announced the suspension of the Delta North Senator, accusing him of anti-party activities.
In a statement signed on Wednesday by the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Ifeanyi M. Osuoza, said Nwaoboshi was suspended for his recent romance with the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a period of one month.
He noted that the lawmaker was also suspended for his verbal recklessness and unprovoked utterances against the governor of the state, Ifeanyi Okowa.
Osuoza stated that the decision was reached at the party’s State Working Committee (SWC) after an emergency meeting.
The statement reads in part: “The State Working Committee (SWC) of the Delta State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), rising from an emergency meeting, has suspended the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly SENATOR PETER ONYELUKA NWAOBOSHI, for a period of ONE MONTH.
“This action has become necessary against the backdrop of the recent romance with an opposition Party, verbal recklessness, and unprovoked utterances of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, particularly against the person of His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, the Executive Governor of Delta State, which the PDP State Working Committee views strongly as totally unacceptable, disturbing and unbecoming of a politician and party member of his stature.”
However, reacting to the news of his suspension, Senator Nwaoboshi dismissed the report as a laughing matter.
”I am just laughing. I have not gotten a letter from them. I do not know what they are talking about,” he told Vanguard in Abuja.
