Sallah Durbar Banned In Buhari’s Hometown Of Daura
The usual durbar that normally holds during the Sallah celebrations has been cancelled for this year by the Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk Umar.
Explaining the reason behind his decision, the Emir said the durbar procession was canceled as a result of the growing insecurity in the area and across the nation.
Umar also banned all district heads in the area from visiting him on Sallah day.
The directives were contained in a circular dated May 6, 2021, issued by the traditional ruler and addressed to all the district heads of the emirate.
The circular, signed by Danejin Daura, Alhaji Abdulmimini Sahihu, was obtained by Daily Trust on Sunday, 9th May, 2021.
The circular directed all district heads to conduct the Eid prayers with their people in their respective domains, urging them to pray for the peace of Nigeria.
“The emir instructed me to inform you that, due to the insecurity in the country, kidnappings for ransom and other threats to national stability, the usual Sallah Durbar will not hold this Eid-el-Fitr.
“Instead, the focus will be on performing special prayers on the Sallah day as soon as the Eid prayers are performed.”
“You are by this notice to inform all the imams to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari (Bayajida II) and other leaders for protection from all evils of the enemies of progress of this country, its stability and its corporate existence,” the circular noted.
