A bullet from a jubilant soldier’s gun has reportedly killed a woman in Eziama Obiato community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, it was learnt on Thursday.

It was said that the soldiers were jubilating at a checkpoint when the gun went off.

The 46-year-old mother of four, Chikodi Ofoegbu, was said to be working at her farm when the bullet hit her.

The president general of the community, Goodluck Ebereowo, who confirmed the incident, said he had directed the head of security in the community to investigate the incident.

It was unclear what the soldiers were celebrating.
