Sunday Igboho: Kinsmen Issue Directives To Police, DSS
Residents of Ibarapaland in Oyo State have warned security agents against arresting Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
Recall that Igboho was on his way to see Afenifere chieftain, Pa Ayo Adebanjo in Lagos on Friday when a joint team of security agents numbering about 40 ambushed him and wanted to arrest him on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
However, Igboho’s supporters resisted his arrest as commotion ensued between his supporters and the joint team which sought to arrest him by force.
The Department of State Service (DSS) and the police later denied attempting to arrest Igboho following the outrage that greeted the faceoff.
Reacting to the attempted arrest, Convener, Igangan Development Advocates, Oladiran Oladokun, condemned the attempted arrest of the activist.
He asked the security agents to go after Fulani warlord, Iskilu Wakili, and bring an end to his tyrannical reign in the Ayete area of Ibarapaland.
Oladokun noted that the attempt to arrest Igboho was an attack on the Yoruba people.
He told the PUNCH, “There is no how we can disconnect the attempted arrest of Chief Sunday Igboho from the event that happened in Igangan. As the oppressed and the subjugated ones, we being the one that Sunday Igboho came to liberate, we will not stand for any attempt to arrest him.
“I speak on behalf of all Ibarapa indigenes and I beg all Yoruba people to wake up and see any form of arrest of Chief Sunday Igboho as a final attack against the Yoruba race and we must not stand for it. The man dies in him who keeps silent in the face of tyranny.
“The police, the DSS should rather arrest Iskilu Wakili, they should rather put Seriki Saliu behind bars if Buhari who controls the DSS really wants to prove the purity of his ethnicity, if he wants to prove the morality and the integrity that he portends, he should ought to rather fish out the criminal-minded ones among the Fulani people.”
