The Presidency has officially responded to the growing rumours surrounding a potential cabinet reshuffling by President Bola Tinubu, specifically targeting the dismissal of five ministers.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, dismissed the reports as mere speculation in an interview with the National Television Authority on Sunday.

While acknowledging the natural tendency for such stories to circulate, Ngelale emphasized the importance of not preempting the President’s actions.

He disclosed that President Tinubu, aware of all factors within his administration, has a dedicated adviser, Hadiza Bala Usman, overseeing policy and coordination.

Ngelale clarified that any cabinet reshuffling would be contingent on the outcomes of ongoing investigations into alleged fraud within the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and its Social Investment Programmes.

“At this point, it is in the realm of speculation. What is not in the realm of speculation, however, is that the President has ordered a thorough investigation. And wherever that investigation takes him, he will act accordingly.

“I do think that the President would not make such a move until he has a clear idea of exactly what that investigation has unearthed and whether or not there are other officials of the government that he feels would need to be roped into such an exercise on the basis of whatever the findings of that investigation are.”
