UNILAG’S CRISIS: We took matter to Babalakin’s dad, says Parents’ forum
THE Parents’ Forum of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Thursday called for fairness and caution in the management of the Governing Council’s decision to sack Prof Toyin Ogundipe.
It recounted the efforts it made to broke a truce between the Council’s Chairman, Dr. Wale Babalakin, and Ogundipe to the point of seeking the intervention of the Pro-Chancellor’s father, Justice Bolarinwa Babalakin.
In a statement, the parents said: “As peace-loving Nigerians, the executives of the Parents’ Forum decided and indeed, approached the vice chancellor of the University of Lagos Professor Toyin Ogundipe and appealed to him to toe the path of peace.
“Similarly, the executive of the Parents’ Forum was to travel to Gbongan and met with Honourable Justice Bolarinwa Babalakin to facilitate cordial relationship between management and the Governing Council. However due to the lockdown occasioned by Coronavirus pandemic, letters of appeal were written to honorable Justice Bolarinwa Babalakin and Dr. Wale Babalakin to let peace reign for the progress of the University of Lagos.
“The Pro-chancellor, Dr. Wale Babalakin, was kind enough in replying the letter, assuring the Parents’ Forum that he was for peace as advised by the Parents’ Forum.
