US Decides: Kanye West will not appear on the 2020 presidential ballot in South Carolina
Kanye West will not appear on the 2020 presidential ballot in South Carolina even after holding his first presidential campaign there on Sunday, July 19.
The Billionaire rapper, 43, faced a Monday 12 PM deadline to submit 10,000 petition signatures needed as a petition candidate to appear on the ballot but failed to meet the requirement, Chris Whitmire, the Director of Public Information for the South Carolina State Election Commission said in a statement to TMZ.
Before his presidential rally, West tweeted to urge his fans to sign up to help him acquire signatures to get on the ballot in South Carolina.
He has also missed deadlines to qualify for the ballot in several states, but last week he qualified to appear on the ballot in Oklahoma, where all that is required is a $35,000 filing fee.
The father of four made headlines on Sunday after spoke about abortion and how he almost encouraged his wife, Kim Kardashian to abort their daughter, North West at his presidential campaign in South Carolina. He also called out Harriet Tubman, the anti-slavery activist who made 13 missions rescuing around 70 slaves.
