In what looked like a grand reunion of old comrades, leaders of the Ogun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) demonstrated their fervent desires of bringing back the old glory of the party at the first Apex meeting after the successful State Party Congress on Tuesday, 18th August, 2019 at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.
It was with pomp and pegentary as the party held its first meeting of the party’s Apex Leaders under the chairmanship of Chief Kola Ogunjobi (Collindale) after a successful conduct of state congresses in Ogun state in July 2020.

The high point of the meeting was the inauguration of the newly elected Local Government Party Executive and a public lecture titled “Ogun PDP…. Before and Now” delivered by Akogun Kola Onadipe.
The Apex Leaders meeting was strategically organized in four different sessions, in strict compliance with the government’s laid down protocols on the management of Covid 19 pandemic, all Apex Leaders of the party across the state were in attendance accordingly.
In the opening remarks, the state Chairman, Alh  Sikirulahi Ogundele welcomed the party leaders and reiterated his readiness to run an all inclusive party administration. He also assured all members of a level playing ground for everybody who wants to ventilate his/her political aspirations on the platform of party. He however called for cooperation, understanding and prayers.
The State Chairman charged all the newly inaugurated Chairmen to work together with the State Executive in order to have a united party ready for victory in the coming general elections. He admonished further that they should embrace all members of the party even those coming newly to join the mainstream of the party for various groups or parties.
In order to further strengthen the party, the Apex leaders confirmed the inauguration of a 9 man Reconciliatory Committee in each of the three senatorial districts of the state with a clear mandate of bringing back all aggrieved members.
Furthermore, the meeting confirmed the inauguration of the party’s Budget and Finance Committee. This was done in order to return the party to the people and put the party on the path of strong financial independence.
Also in attendance were several prominent founding fathers of the party like Chief kola Ogunjobi, Chief Alani Akinde, Alhaja Mujida Ogunnaike, Elder Yemi Akinwonmi, Chief Soboyede, Dr. Doyin Okupe, Engr Bayo Dayo, Otunba Tola Odulaja, Chief Dipo Jimileyin and several other juggernauts across the state.
While giving his remarks, the chairman of the Apex body, Chief Ogunjobi showered encomiums on  committed party leaders who have consistently invested their material resources, valuable time and priceless energy on the survival of the party.
He also gave eloquent words of assurance, on behalf of the Apex leaders of maximum cooperation with the members of the State Working Committee in all its initiative towards returning the party to its winning ways.
