The United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC) has nominated the Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter Governmental Affairs, Mr. Femi Ogunbanwo, for appointment as International Peace Advocate (Mayor of Peace).

The United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC) is an autonomous institution established in 2001 with the United Nations and UNESCO General Assembly Resolution which declared 2001-2010 as a decade of peace and non-violence.

As part of this years celebration, there will be presentation of awards as International Peace Advocate to individuals with proven integrity and who have demonstrated commitment towards promoting universal moral values, strong family ties, social harmony and a culture of peace. It is also noted that the awardees can be called upon for peace making and conflict resolution, and other assignments in line with international best practices.

This International honour among others is to encourage the individual awardees to be role model in community services and peace-making at one time or the other. The award comes with those features such as:
*UN-POLAC Certificate of Appointment;
*UN-POLAC International Identity Card;
Investiture Apparel;
*UN-POLAC Flag of Authority to be hoisted in place of choice of the awardees; and,

The award ceremony which is a symbol of the commemoration of the Human Rights Day 2020 is also organized by POLAC and UNESCO in line with the UN General Assemblys Declaration with the theme: Stand up for Human Rights.
The prestigious Award Ceremony will be held at the Nigeria National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja, on Thursday, December 10, 2020, and is expected to be graced by many high ranking United Nations Officials.
