FG Empowers 2,600 Women With N52m In Nasarawa

As part her effort to tackle poverty at the grassroot, the federal government through the ministry of Hummanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has empowered about 2,600 rural women in Nasarawa State.

Sadiya Umar Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development who made the disbursement in Lafia, said the effort was to improve household consumption.

Sadiya, said the money was to improve school enrollment and attendance and encourage household financial capacity.

Sadiya, who was represented by minister of State for Science and Technology Barrister Abdullahi Mohammed explained that, Nasarawa State has received 3.2bn from federal government conditional cash transfer programme in the state.

His words,” I must note at this point that the social register is being expanded to cater for more poor and vunerable household in Nasarawa State,” he said.

Abdullahi Mohammed however charged the beneficiaries of this programme to make judicious used of the opportunity to increase their income.

On his keynote remarked, Governor Abdullahi Sule, said the disbursement of this funds would go along way in cushion the effect of harship been face by women in Nasarawa state.

Governor Sule, who optimistic with Federal Government gesture charged the beneficiaries to make good used of money to better their life.

In her keynote addressed Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in the state, Hajiya Halima Jabiru, who apart from appreciating the Federal Government for benevolent said, Nasarawa state is considered lucky to be witnessing yet another show of benevolent love and commitment by the Federal Government of Nigeria towards ameliorating the plights of its citizens, particularly those in distress and vulnerable conditions.
