The French Ambassador to Nigeria, Jérôme Pasquier, has commended Edo State Government for the steps taken to combat the issue of human trafficking and illegal migration in the state, calling for continuous effort to check the trend.

The French Ambassador was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Godwin Obaseki in Government house, Benin City.

The French Ambassador is in Benin City to meet with Edo State Government and other relevant key players to discuss issues bordering on the fight against human trafficking and illegal migration.

He commends the Governor Godwin Obaseki led administration for the steps taken so far and calls for renewed effort to reduce the unwholesome activities to the barest minimum.

Governor Obaseki assures the French Ambassador that the state government is not relenting in its quest to see to the end of the challenges.

The Governor who noted that one way to stop the menace is to create windows for regular migration revealed that the state is also emphasising technical education to provide useful skills to young residents.
