BREAKING: Three Officers Feared Killed As Gunmen Attack Police Checkpoint In Enugu
here is tension in Enugu, the Enugu State capital following an attack by gunmen on a police checkpoint during which officers were killed.
This online medium learnt the incident occurred on Thursday morning.
The incident we gathered, happened around 9:30 am at Akwuke Junction in the Enugu South local government area of the state.
At the time of filing this report, it was still unclear how many police officers were killed in the attack.
Sources told this online medium no fewer than three policemen had been killed.
One of the sources said, “As we speak, people are still running helter-skelter as the gunmen are still shooting sporadically. I am calling you from my hiding place.
“The checkpoint the hoodlums attacked are in front of MTD Police Station in Akwuke, opposite Boom Plaza near Tipper park before Enugu – Port-Harcourt highway.
“I don’t know the extent of casualties but what I heard is that the gunmen have already killed three policemen. When I was passing the checkpoint around 8:30 am, the operatives were six in number.”
The spokesperson for the state police command, Daniel Ndukwe did not answer when SaharaReporters called his mobile line. He also did not reply to a text message sent to him.
