The Benue State House of Assembly has announced the immediate suspension of all 23 local government chairmen within the state.
CITYNEWS NIGERIA reports that this follows allegations of financial recklessness against these local government officials.
This newspaper learnt that a specially formed ad hoc committee, headed by Honorable Peter Ipusu, was entrusted with the task of delving into the conduct of the chairmen and investigating the accusations. The primary focus of the committee’s inquiry was to probe the chairmen’s alleged mismanagement and improper utilisation of public funds.
During a session held in the House on Wednesday, Honorable Peter Ipusu presented a comprehensive report that had the findings and recommendations of the ad hoc committee. This report extensively examined the financial transactions of the local government chairmen and shed light on any potential acts of financial recklessness or misconduct committed by them.
