Super Eagles AFCON 2023 hero Troost-Ekong to undergo Surgery

Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong has reportedly arrived in Finland to undergo a minor surgery.

William sustained the injury during Nigeria’s second Group A game at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Troost-Ekong, who featured for 90 minutes in game, netted the winner for the West Africans from the spot in the 55 minutes.

According to sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano, the PAOK defender will undergo surgery in Finland tomorrow to repair a ruptured biceps femoris in his right leg.

The defender missed Nigeria’s final group game against Guinea-Bissau due to the injury.

The defender however returned for the Round of 16 victory against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

The 30-year-old also played every minutes of the Super Eagles next three games.

Troost-Ekong, the 2023 AFCON tournament’s best player is expected to return to play for Greek side PAOK Salonica towards the end of the season.
