Burna Boy makes movie debut in ‘3 Cold Dishes’ starring Wale Ojo, Osas Ighodaro
Popular Nigerian singer Burna Boy is set to make his film debut with 3 Cold Dishes, a crime adventure that tackles the serious issue of s*x trafficking. The film is produced by Spaceship Films, a company he co-founded with his mother, Bose Ogulu, where he also serves as executive producer.
Director Asurf Oluseyi has confirmed that 3 Cold Dishes has completed production and is now entering post-production. The film follows the harrowing journey of three victims of sex trafficking who, fifteen years after their ordeal, embark on a quest to hunt down their traffickers. The cast features notable actors, including Osas Ighodaro, Wale Ojo, and Ivorian actors Fat Toure and Maud Guerard, alongside Senegalese actors Amelie Mbaye and Mentor Ba.
3 Cold Dishes is set in various locations across Nigeria, the Republic of Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, and Mauritania and involves more than 200 crew members. Its production reflects a pan-African effort, highlighting the widespread nature of the issue it seeks to address.
Oluseyi noted the film’s importance in raising awareness of the global problem of sex trafficking. While he refrained from sharing detailed specifics, the director revealed that 3 Cold Dishes had secured a significant partnership deal. This collaboration is expected to fast-track the film’s post-production phase and significantly aid in its marketing efforts, ensuring it reaches a wide audience.
Burna Boy’s involvement in 3 Cold Dishes marks a significant step in his career, expanding his influence from music to film. His participation underscores the growing trend of musicians crossing into the film industry, using their platforms to shed light on critical social issues. 3 Cold Dishes is poised to be a compelling addition to the discourse on sex trafficking, aiming to educate and inspire action against this pervasive crime.
