A Dangote truck, identified by its registration number GML 730 XX and fully loaded with cement, was involved in an accident earlier today at Demurin Junction, Ketu, Lagos. The truck veered off course and collided with the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor while heading towards Mile 12.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred due to a brake failure, causing the truck to swerve into the BRT lane. The driver, fearing he had injured commuters, fled the scene. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) swiftly responded, with a rescue team arriving to manage the situation alongside officers from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LRU) and the Ketu Police Station, who provided security support.
Hon. Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, called on truck drivers to adhere to speed limits and other safety regulations set by the Lagos State Government to prevent such incidents.
The accident is being investigated by authorities, and LASTMA continues to monitor the area to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
