JAMB Announces Date To Decide 2026 Admission Cut-Off Marks

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed May 11, 2026, for its policy meeting on admissions into tertiary institutions.

The meeting is expected to determine the minimum Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination cut-off marks and other admission guidelines for universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and other tertiary institutions for the 2026/2027 academic session.

CityNews reports that JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.

Benjamin said the policy meeting would take place in Abuja and would bring together key stakeholders in the education sector.

According to him, the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, is expected to unveil major policy directions for the 2026/2027 admission exercise at the meeting.

The statement noted that the gathering would formally set the tone for the admission process and reinforce the need for institutions to comply with approved guidelines.

JAMB said those expected at the meeting include vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars and admission officers from tertiary institutions across the country.

The statement read, “Attendees at the meeting will include vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars, and admission officers across tertiary institutions.”

It added, “Others are representatives of regulatory agencies such as the National Universities Commission, National Commission for Colleges of Education, and National Board for Technical Education.”

Benjamin said the meeting would provide an opportunity for stakeholders to review issues affecting admissions and agree on the framework for the next academic session.

The JAMB spokesperson also said goodwill messages would be delivered by key stakeholders, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the National Youth Service Corps.

He said their participation reflected the importance of coordinated planning in the education sector, especially as admission policies affect students, institutions and national manpower development.

Benjamin added that the sixth edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards would also take place during the event.

According to him, the initiative has helped promote compliance with admission guidelines and improved transparency in the admission process.

He said NATAP-M had “ensured strict adherence to admission guidelines and contributed greatly to the development of tertiary education in the country.”

The outcome of the meeting is expected to guide institutions in conducting admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session.
