Osun Boils As Gov Adeleke Summons Emergency Security Meeting Over Fresh Attacks

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called for an emergency security council meeting following fresh attacks and destruction of government property in different parts of the state.

CityNews reports that the governor announced the decision through a statement released on Monday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

According to the statement, the meeting became necessary because of growing security worries connected to alleged political violence ahead of the governorship election in Osun State.

The emergency meeting is expected to take place at the Governor’s Office and will have the attendance of security chiefs and service commanders across the state.

The state government said discussions during the meeting would focus on rising cases of thuggery and attacks allegedly linked to supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adeleke said the situation had become a matter that required urgent attention from security agencies and government officials. He questioned why public property was being attacked without arrests being made by security operatives.

The governor also stated that the security council would work on ways to stop further violence and restore confidence in the ability of security agencies to maintain peace and order across the state.

This development comes after the killing of Kolade Eluyera, the son of the Accord Women Leader in Ikire, located in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.
