If You Don’t Keep Quiet, I Will Start Saying Things – Gov Yusuf Sends Warning To Kwankwaso

The governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has issued a stern warning to the former governor of the state, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Speaking to a crowd in Kano, the governor warned his former political godfather against disrespecting him.

Yusuf said if Kwankwaso does not control his words, he would begin to say things the former presidential candidate would not like.

He was reacting to Kwankwaso’s statement during an interview in which the former New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader accused him of betrayal and vowed to defeat him in the 2027 governorship election.

CityNews reports that Kwankwaso had expressed disappointment over what he described as political betrayal by Yusuf and some other trusted allies.

Kwankwaso, who spoke in a Hausa proverb, said, “ina ruwan jaka da inda aka ajiye ta,” meaning; ‘A bag has no choice of where it is kept.

“I never expected betrayal from him. I gave my final trust, but today you can all see where it has led us.”

The former presidential candidate also criticised some beneficiaries of his administration’s educational policies, saying some of those sponsored for studies later turned against the political movement that supported them.

Reacting to the accusation, Yusuf said, “How can a 69-year-old man (Kwankwaso) call someone who is 63 a boy? I tolerated that because of obedience.

“If he doesn’t keep quiet and control his words, I will start saying things he wouldn’t like. I believe peace and stability in Kano State are paramount, but if we’re pushed too far, we will speak out.”
