The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has expressed optimism that God will continue to guide President Bola Tinubu in leading Nigeria until 2031 to advance the country’s development.
City News reports that Umahi stated this on Thursday during an inspection tour of ongoing bridge projects in Lagos State.
The projects inspected included the Carter Bridge, which the minister said is scheduled for reconstruction beginning next week.
Speaking during the inspection, Umahi appealed to Nigerians to support and cooperate with the Tinubu administration as it works to address the challenges facing the country, particularly insecurity.
According to him, the President’s administration will continue to receive divine support in confronting national problems and delivering on its mandate.
“The same God that brought him is going to be there to solve all the problems,” Umahi said.
The minister said no leader desires instability or crisis during his administration, but noted that responsible leadership requires courage and commitment to confront challenges whenever they arise.
“There is no leader who will not want his reign to be peaceful, but when crises come, the leader must confront them. That is exactly what we are doing,” he said.
Umahi said he remained confident that Tinubu would receive the wisdom and strength needed to overcome Nigeria’s security challenges and other national issues.
He added that whether the security problems were politically motivated or not, the President would continue to find solutions to them.
The minister maintained that the present administration was committed to tackling the country’s problems directly and ensuring that development projects are delivered across the country.
Umahi also expressed confidence that all projects initiated under the Tinubu administration would be completed.
He said the government remained optimistic that the President’s leadership continued to enjoy divine favour.
“Your hands that have started this will complete it,” Umahi stated.
According to him, the administration is determined to ensure that critical infrastructure projects are completed within planned timelines.
Speaking on the Carter Bridge project, Umahi disclosed that reconstruction work on the bridge would begin next week.
He said the project is expected to be completed within three years.
“It is within our five-year plan,” the minister added.
The Carter Bridge is one of the major bridges linking Lagos Island to the mainland and remains a critical route for motorists and commuters in the state.
Umahi said the Federal Government would continue to prioritise key infrastructure projects as part of efforts to improve transportation, support economic activities and enhance public safety.
Meanwhile, the Conference of United Political Parties (CUPP) has demanded the resignation of President Bola Tinubu following the pressing issues of insecurity, economic hardship, and the general well-being of Nigerians.
CityNews reports that CUPP, in a statement signed by its acting National Chairman, Peter Ameh, backed a recent call by the House of Representatives Minority Caucus, which had earlier asked President Tinubu to either demonstrate effective leadership or resign from office.
CUPP said Tinubu’s administration must rise to the challenges facing Nigerians or make way for leaders who can deliver meaningful results.
Ameh added tha CUPP will continue to monitor developments closely and will not hesitate to speak the truth in the best interests of the Nigerian people.
The statement read, “In a sane clime, any elected official who refuses to produce results of good governance that will help make the lives of the people better should honourably resign.
“President Bola Tinubu and his administration must step up immediately to address the pressing issues of insecurity, economic hardship, and the general well-being of Nigerians. Leadership is not a right but a responsibility. Where this responsibility is not being discharged effectively, the honourable path is resignation.
“We urge the President to heed this call and take immediate, visible steps to alleviate the suffering of citizens across the country.”
