CCDI Challenges Adeniyi Adeyemi’s Purported UN and Presidential Links

The Centre for Convention on Democratic Integrity, (CCDI) has drawn attention to publicly reported claims made by Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew in 2017 regarding his purported election as President-General of the so called World Youth Organisation (WYO) and his subsequent claim that he resumed duties at the United Nations Office in Geneva, as reported by Vanguard on 23 January 2017, the Nigerian Tribune on 13 November 2016, and The Punch on 13 January 2017.

In a statement made available to the media on Monday in Lagos, the Permanent Representative of the Centre for Convention on Democratic Integrity (CCDI) Ltd/Gte to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Olufemi Aduwo, stated that the claims were unsupported by any verifiable facts.

He emphasised that at no time has the United Nations established, recognised or designated the so called World Youth Organisation (WYO) as its official youth wing or affiliated body.

” Furthermore, the so called World Youth Organisation is neither in consultative status with ECOSOC nor recognised by the United Nations as one of its accredited non-governmental organisations.

Aduwo stated that, in the light of the current public controversy surrounding the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), those earlier representations warrant careful scrutiny alongside more recent developments.

He further observed that public references have described Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew interchangeably as both the “Director-General” and the “Convener” of the purported PFIPC.

According to Aduwo, these inconsistent designations raise legitimate questions regarding the precise nature, scope and legal basis of the position being claimed.

He said greater clarity would be beneficial to members of the public who may have been approached on the strength of those representations.

Aduwo recalled that the public statement issued by the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President on 11 June 2026 unequivocally stated that the PFIPC “does not exist under this administration and no appointment has been made in that regard”.

Aduwo said this was not the first official clarification on the matter.

He said, “As far back as September 2025, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, in a letter addressed to the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), categorically stated thus:
“I am directed to refer to your letter dated 19th September, 2025 on the above subject and to inform you that the so-called Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) is not a recognised body of the Federal Government of Nigeria.”

Aduwo maintained that these official records raise significant questions concerning the authenticity and credibility of the representations made by Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew.

“At this junction kindly produce your letter of appointment .
“Nothing can be built upon a foundation that does not exist. Public trust is earned through truth, legality and transparency”, Aduwo charges Adeyemi in the statement.
