Tinubu media center releases AI image of First Lady as akara seller

The Presidency has released an artificial intelligence, AI, generated image of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu depicting her as an akara seller.

The AI image was shared on Friday by the official X handle of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Centre.

In the image, the First Lady is seen wearing an apron while frying akara, with a sign beside her reading, “Iya Alakara – Hot and Fresh Akara.”

The post came just hours after President Bola Tinubu, while addressing guests at the inaugural Presidential Press Corps Dinner held at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja, jokingly referred to the First Lady as “Iya Alakara” a Yoruba expression meaning mother of the akara seller.

Recall also that the First lady spoke about small-scale businesses during the launch of the Renewed Hope Initiative’s Flow with Confidence campaign at the State House, Abuja.

At the event, the First Lady encouraged women and young people to consider businesses that require modest start-up capital, mentioning ventures such as selling akara, roasted corn and kuli-kuli.

The AI image has since sparked reactions on X, with many Nigerians expressing surprise and disbelief that such image will be shared and the reason for that.

@DeLta wrote “Official handle of the president media ? This is not comical as it should look. It is utterly ridiculous and grossly insulting. What do these people take us for ??”

@Jolly wrote “You wan shift attention back to akara. We have gone past that. Aso Rock fraud is what we are dealing with now”

@Ralph olamilekan wrote “Useless lots,,,kids have been in kidnappers den over 50 days nothing about that,, just recently Your chief of staff that’s a thief and criminal has been trending nothing about that buh let’s talk about iya alakara, fuuuuls”

@Benson Hartman wrote “See what Yoruba people have reduced presidency to, chai”

@Gentry wrote “This is to show how small the government of the day rates its citizens. You advocate for mediocrity and call it innovation, people who wants better for themselves complain now it has to turn to a nationwide meme being used by the government media team lol It’s a shame”

@D-ZBSI wrote “Na our mama be this oooooooooooo Selling Akara is better than selling fake drinks and operating a baby factory. God bless Nigeria”

@Truth Zone wrote “Someone please tell me this is a parody account because there is no way the presidents media team is brazenly mocking and trolling suffering Nigerians this way.”
