Atalanta Co-Owner Stephen Pagliuca Responds To Gasperini’s Controversial Comments On Lookman

Atalanta co-owner, Stephen Pagliuca, has publicly addressed the recent comments made by manager Gian Piero Gasperini regarding Ademola Lookman, admitting that Gasperini made a mistake by speaking out about the individual player.

Speaking on the matter, Pagliuca emphasized the club’s commitment to taking responsibility and focusing on improvement whenever things go wrong. He said, “He made a mistake by speaking about an individual. At Atalanta, with the Percassi family, we have a policy: if things go wrong, we take responsibility. We look at ourselves and how to improve.”

Pagliuca also praised the entire squad for their exceptional performance this season, acknowledging the significant contributions of players like Lookman, Charles De Ketelaere, and the whole team. “The players are having an extraordinary season, we wouldn’t be where we are now without their contributions,” he added.

While Gasperini’s remarks were described as emotional and unfortunate, Pagliuca made it clear that the coach’s comments went against Atalanta’s values. “It was a mistake that went against our policy, something we are not proud of,” he concluded.

Atalanta has always maintained a strong, team-first approach, and Pagliuca’s comments further reaffirm the club’s commitment to unity and responsibility.
