De-registration: The Judge Acted In Contempt Of Court, Should Be Arrested – ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reacted after a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja ordered the deregistration of the party and four others from taking part in the 2027 general elections.

CityNews reports that the judgment, delivered by Justice Peter Lifu, directed the Independent National Electoral Commission to remove the affected political parties from the electoral process ahead of the next general election.

The decision has since triggered reactions from the ADC leadership.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, spoke during a live television interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he condemned the ruling.

He accused the judge of acting against an earlier order from the Appeal Court, which he said directed that no action should be taken on the matter until it is fully heard on October 27.

According to the ADC, the ruling raises concerns about compliance with court processes and respect for judicial procedure.

The party argued that the decision has no strong legal basis and should not stand in its current form.

“Justice Lifu should be arrested. The Appeal Court said he should not act until the case is heard on October 27.

“The judge is acting in contempt of court, which is a criminal act. What basis did they deliver the judgment?

“So, for us in the African Democratic Congress, what we are convinced that they know is that what they have done has no leg to stand on,” Abdullahi said.
