The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has filed a lawsuit against the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited over the “failure to account for and explain the whereabouts of the alleged missing $2.04 billion and N164 billion oil revenues.” This, according to SERAP, followed the allegations documented in the recently published 2020 audited report by the Auditor-General of the Federation that the NNPC; failed to remit the money into the Federation Account, saying that the money may have been diverted. The National Emergency Management Agency has confirmed that the fire incident that raged in the Eleme area of Rivers State on Friday night was caused by a reckless truck driver. The fire that occurred between the Indorama Petro-Chemical Company Gate and the Aleto Bridge on the ever-busy Eleme section of the East-West Road burnt motorists and commuters beyond recognition and destroyed over 120 vehicles on Friday night. Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa of a Federal High Court, sitting in on Friday has issued warrant of arrest against the Chief Executive Officer of GMC logistics, Chief Sonny Allison, for his failure to appear in court to face his trial over an alleged N72 million fraud. Chief Allison was arraigned before the court on June 15, 2023, by the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi, Lagos, on charges bordering on conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence and issuance of dud cheques.
