The Ilamuren kingmakers in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, have approved the nomination of five princes for the Awujale throne. CityNews reports that the kingmakers were led by the Olisa, Rasheed Adeoye Adesanya. In a letter addressed to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, the Olisa said the kingmakers acted under Section 4(2) of the Chiefs Law 1957 and the customary law regulating the selection and succession to the Awujale of Ijebuland. Northern youths, under the aegis of the Coalition of Arewa Youth Groups, has warned that 2027 may be Nigeria’s last election.
