Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has been declared the winner of the presidential primary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) According to the party, Atiku polled 1,846,370 votes to beat his closest rival, former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi, who polled 504,117 votes. The Lagos State Government has introduced a new tenancy bill aimed at controlling unfair rent increases and reducing illegal charges in the housing sector across the state. Former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, has begun serving his 75-year jail sentence after he was remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja following his dramatic arrest by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
