Lagos State has recorded 136 Covid-19 cases 24 hours after it reported no new infection. From the report of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, 7 other states have also reported new Covid-19 infections. These include Kano-4; Niger-3; Ekiti, Kaduna, Ogun, and Taraba-2; FCT-1. The 152 new cases reported by the NCDC take the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Nigeria to 65,148. There are 44 Covid-19 patients discharged across Nigeria in the last 24 hours to take number of successfully treated cases in the country to 61,073.
As part of measures to plug all revenue collection leakages the Benue State Government has pledged to strengthen revenue generated internally and provided operational vehicles for the Joint Taskforce to check illegal tax collection activities. State Governor Samuel Ortom who presented the vehicles in Makurdi the State capital equally provided mobility for the Yam and Pig Farmers Associations of Nigeria. Illegal tax operations have been a clog in the wheel of revenue generation in the State with prominent people regrettably involved. About 160 journalists were attacked in Nigeria in the last two years, a report, has shown.The report was prepared by the PTCIJ’s press freedom project and collated cases through the Press Attack Tracker, a civic technology tool designed to track and report attacks on the press.The tool provides a data-driven advocacy response to the continued repression of the media through physical attacks, arrests and detentions, unconstitutional legal proceedings, repressive laws, and cyber attacks amongst others.The report shows that the police, thugs and political figures were responsible for most of the attacks faced by journalists. The Federal Government has embarked on the distribution of grants of twenty thousand to a thousand vulnerable rural women in the Gombe state. The distribution was supervised by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Hajia Sadia Umar Farouque of who said the grants were given to these women following the harsh economic conditions as a result of the covid-19 pandemic. Effective November 13, Nigerians may begin to buy fuel from filling stations at prices between N172 and N175, or higher. This is because the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC) has adjusted the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, from N147.67 to N155.17. The PPMC is a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and currently imports almost all of Nigeria’s petrol. The Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC has handed-over additional working documents to the field forensic auditor appointed to probe the activities of the commission.
