Some bandits were reported to have invaded the LEA Primary School, Kuriga in the troubled Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, kidnapping scores of pupils on Thursday morning. A source, who is a resident of the area, said no fewer than 100 pupils were taken away by the bandits who stormed the town in large numbers. It was also gathered that the head teacher of the school as well as other staff were among those abducted by the hoodlums. The Ekiti State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Paul Omotoso is dead. Omotoso passed away in the early hours of Wednesday. As of the time this report was filed the cause of his death is still unclear. It was gathered that the late Chairman has not been in the best of health since his kidnapping saga in July 2023. The publicity secretary of the party in the state, Segun Dipe confirmed the incident but could not give further explanation as to the cause of Omotoso’s death or where his body was deposited. The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced an increase in the bursary allowance for students of Lagos origin from N50,000 to N60,000 and a scholarship grant from N200,000 to N225,000 for both indigene and non-indigene students of the state. Sanwo-Olu made the announcement at a one-day interactive session between the governor, students’ union leaders, and stakeholders tagged “Students as Strategic Partners in the Governance Process: Challenges and Prospects for Youth Development” on Tuesday in Ikeja. The Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the successful completion of the Red Line rail project of the state. The House also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing the foundation in Lagos upon which successive administrations have built while appreciating Speaker Mudashiru Obasa for playing positive roles by ensuring legislative approvals in support of the blue and red line projects.
